Dass der nationalsozialistische Begriff der ‚Volksgemeinschaft‘ nach 1945 weiter benutzt wurde, findet in der bisherigen Forschung kaum Beachtung. Mithilfe der begriffsgeschichtlichen Methode nach Reinhart Koselleck und des Ideologiebegriffs Michael Freedens untersucht der Beitrag die Frage, von wem, wie und wofür die ‚Volksgemeinschaft‘ sowie die verknüpften Begriffe ‚Volksgenosse/n‘ und ‚Volkskörper‘ in den stenographischen Berichten der Plenardebatten des 1. Bundestages (1949-53) verwendet wurden. Zu konstatieren ist ein breiter Gebrauch durch alle Fraktionen, der meist kommentar- und kritiklos erfolgte und teils auf das NS-Begriffsverständnis, teils auf alternative Konzeptionen rekurrierte. Die Ergebnisse werden auf die bestehende Literatur zur ‚Volksgemeinschaft‘ sowie auf mögliche Narrative der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik bezogen.

Le fait que le concept national-socialiste de ‘Volksgemeinschaft’ fut encore utilisé après 1945 est ignoré par la majorité de l’historiographie. S’appuyant sur la méthode de l’histoire des concepts de Reinhart Koselleck et la notion d’idéologie développée par Michael Freeden, nous nous demandons ici par qui, comment et dans quel but la ‘Volksgemeinschaft’ et les concepts associés ‘Volksgenosse/n’ et ‘Volkskörper’ ont été utilisés dans les procès-verbaux sténographiques des débats pléniers du premier Bundestag (1949-53). Nous pouvons constater que l’ensemble des groupes parlementaires en fait un large usage, souvent sans commentaire ou distanciation, et se référant en partie à l’usage national-socialiste du terme et en partie à d’autres conceptions. Nous mettrons en lien les résultats obtenus à ceux de la recherche antérieure sur la ‘Volksgemeinschaft’ et aux interprétations possibles de l’histoire de la RFA.

The fact that the National Socialist concept of ‘Volksgemeinschaft’ was still in use after 1945 has been ignored by most existing research. Utilizing Reinhart Koselleck’s conceptual history approach and Michael Freeden’s understanding of ideologies, this contribution investigates the question by whom, how and to what ends ‘Volksgemeinschaft’ and the associated concepts ‘Volksgenosse/n’ and ‘Volkskörper’ were used in the stenographic transcripts of the plenary debates of the first Bundestag (1949-53). The findings indicate a widespread use by all parliamentary groups, for the most part without accompanying comments or criticism, which partly drew on the National Socialist understanding of the term and partly on alternative conceptions. The results are related to the prior research on the ‘Volksgemeinschaft’ and possible narratives of the history of the Federal Republic of Germany.
