El presente trabajo pretende debatir sobre diversos estereotipos relacionados con la presencia hispana en los Estados Unidos ya sea inmigrante o nativa, en cuanto a la percepción que de esta se tiene en la sociedad,  la reacción de los hispanos ante estas imágenes deformadas, parciales o incompletas y sus repercusiones en el ámbito lingüístico.  En efecto, si la identidad está intrínsecamente ligada a la lengua, veremos en qué medida se siguen identificando los hispanos con el español, cómo las apelaciones espanglish y español estadounidense influyen en la definición de una identidad cultural heterogénea y cómo se manifiesta esta nueva identidad híbrida a través de la literatura.

The present work intends to debate about different stereotypes related to Hispanic presence in the United States, foreign-born as well as native, regarding the perception that society has of this presence, Hispanic reaction to deformed, partial or incomplete images and the repercussions of such images in the linguistic area. Indeed, if identity is inherently linked to language, we will discuss how Hispanics can still identify with the Spanish language, how spanglish and U.S Spanish influence the definition of a heterogeneous cultural identity, and how this new hybrid identity manifests itself through literature.
