Cet article traite de la vie et l’œuvre d’Aḥmad b. ʿAlī al‑Ḥarīrī. Il s’appuie essentiellement sur les marques extratextuelles des manuscrits conservés dans différentes bibliothèques. Il apparaît qu’al‑Ḥarīrī vécut probablement à Damas ou dans une cité libanaise à la fin du ixe/xve siècle et au début du xe/xvie siècle, et qu’il avait des liens avec le Liban, en particulier avec la région du Chouf, qui était dominée par les Druzes. Il mourut après 926/1520 et est l’auteur de trois livres. Le premier, le Kitāb Muntaḫab al‑zamān fī taʾrīḫ al‑ḫulafāʾ wa‑l‑ʿulamāʾ wa‑l‑aʿyān, traite de l’histoire des califats. Le second, le Kitāb ʿUmdat al‑ʿārifīn fī qiṣaṣ al‑nabiyyīn wa‑l‑umam al‑salāfiyya, qui est inédit, est un ouvrage de cosmographie et de géographie. Le troisième, intitulé le Kitāb al‑Iʿlām wa‑l‑tabyīn fī ḫurūǧ al‑Firanǧ al‑malāʿīn ʿalā bilād al‑muslimīn, est une histoire abrégée des croisades qui résume le Muntaḫab al‑zamān.

This article deals with Aḥmad b. ʿAlī al‑Ḥarīrī’s life and work. It relies on extra textual annotations inserted into manuscripts preserved in various libraries. It appears that al‑Ḥarīrī probably lived in Damascus or in a near Lebanese city at the end of the 9th century AH/15th century CE and in the early 10th century AH/16th century CE. He may have been linked to Lebanon, especially with the Chuf Mountains which were a Druze-dominated area. He died after 926 AH/1520 AD after having written three books. The first book ‒ which is entitled Kitāb Muntaḫab al‑zamān fī taʾrīḫ al‑ḫulafāʾ wa‑l‑ʿulamāʾ wa‑l‑aʿyān ‒ is a history of the caliphates. The second one, the Kitāb ʿUmdat al‑ʿārifīn fī qiṣaṣ al‑nabiyyīn wa‑l‑umam al‑sālifīn, is still unpublished. It deals with cosmography and geography. The third one, the Kitāb al‑Iʿlām wa‑l‑tabyīn fī ḫurūǧ al‑Firanǧ al‑malāʿīn ʿalā bilād al‑muslimīn, is an abstract of the Muntaḫab focusing on the Crusades.

تعالج هذه المقالة سيرة ومؤلفات أحمد بن علي الحريري، اعتمادا على ما يتوفر من قراءات ومن مخطوطات محفوظة في مكتبات مختلفة. الأرجح ان أحمد بن علي الحريري عاش في مدينة دمشق أو في مدينة لبنانية قريبة منها إذ كان له علاقات كثيفة مع لبنان، وخاصة مع منطقة الشوف الدرزية. يبدو أنّ الرجل استمر على قيد الحياة حتى أواخر القرن التاسع الهجري (الخامس عشر الميلادي) وأوائل العاشر (السادس عشر الميلادي) وأن وفاته كانت بعد سنة 926هـ/1520م. يبدو كذلك أنّه ألف ثلاثة كتب : الكتاب الأول هو « كتاب منتخب الزمان في تاريخ الخلفاء والعلماء والأعيان »، ويتناول فيه التاريخ الإسلامي من بداية عهد الخلفاء الراشدين إلى وقت الحريري. له كتاب ثان، لم يُنشر بعد، وهو « كتاب عمدة العارفين في قصص النبيين والأمم السالفين » ؛ وهو كتاب به مزيج من الكوزموغرافيا (cosmographie) والجغرافيا. أما كتابه الثالث فعنوانه : « كتاب الإعلام والتبيين في خروج الفرنج الملاعين على بلاد المسلمين »، وهو كتاب في الحروب الصليبية عبارة عن موجز لكتابه « منخب الزمان ».
