Dans le domaine écologique l’interdisciplinarité est à la mode. Elle s’explique par la pluralité des facteurs (naturels et anthropiques) responsables des crises environnementales. Bien que nécessaire, cependant, la collaboration entre les Sciences de la nature et celles de l’esprit n’est pas sans ambiguïté. Ce texte revient sur une enquête pionnière, en matière d’invasions biologiques marines, consacrée à la prolifération de Caulerpa taxifolia sur les côtes françaises aux débuts des années 2000. Son objectif est de reconstituer les attentes des institutions et celles des chercheurs. Derrière, on voit émerger les enjeux sous-jacents : les intérêts extrascientifiques, les malentendus, les implications épistémologiques et déontologiques qui accompagnent le « mariage de raison » entre Sciences humaines et Sciences naturelles.
