Les « inscriptions oraculaires » (appelées aussi « textes sur os et carapaces », traduction du chinois jiagu wen 甲骨文) constituent une des plus importantes sources écrites sur la dynastie des Shang (v. 1600‑1050 av. J.‑C.). Ces comptes rendus de divinations, produits entre le xiiie siècle et le xe siècle avant notre ère, reflètent les préoccupations des souverains Shang, ainsi que des élites Zhou (v. 1050‑256 av. J.-C.). Parmi les principaux sujets de ces inscriptions, on relève : les sacrifices, la guerre, les moissons, la chasse, et la santé.

The Oracle Bone Inscriptions represent one of the most important written sources about the Shang Dynasty (ca. 1600‑1050 BCE). These divination reports, produced between the xiiith and the xth century BCE, reflect the Shang kings and the Zhou elite’s worries. Among the main topics in these inscriptions are: sacrifice, war, harvest, hunting and wealth.
