Olivier Venture, « Inscriptions sur bronze des Shang et des Zhou », Presses de l’Inalco, ID : 10.4000/books.pressesinalco.26065
Today, bronze inscriptions represent a corpus of more than 18,000 epigraphic testimonies produced during the reign of the Shang (ca. 1600‑1050 BCE) and the Zhou (ca. 1050‑256 BCE) dynasties. Information about aristocratic society, especially about the relationship between subgroups, is included. Whereas earlier inscriptions were mainly concerned with ancestor cults and lineages, later ones bring to light the will of the government to control the whole society.
