Vintimille, août 2017 : quelques centaines d’habitants descendent à la rue pour dire Basta! aux migrants qui, refoulés en grand nombre depuis 2015 par la police aux frontières françaises, se trouvent coincés dans la ville-frontière. Loin d’être le réveil spontané d’une population débordée, la manifestation résulte d’un long travail politique pour, d’abord, faire exister les « habitants » en tant que catégorie homogène et mobilisable en opposition aux « migrants » et, ensuite, les faire intervenir dans la politique de mise en camp et d’invisibilisation des migrants dans l’espace urbain.
