L’histoire du spectacle roumain commence par le drame chrétien de Vicleim (Bethléem). Le matériel autochtone laïc provoquera plutôt le rire. La fonction satirique du théâtre de figurines sera cause d’interdictions. Le genre s’adresse aux seuls enfants à partir du xxe siècle. L’historique de l’analyse va de l’Antiquité à la période post-totalitaire. Sous le communisme, le théâtre de marionnettes a bénéficié d’une liberté appréciable.

Rumanian theater is believed to begin with the biblical spectacles of Vicleim (Bethleem). Then, the laic autochtonous material is used to bring about laughter. The comical, satirical function of the theatre of figurines quickly provokes censorship. The Rumanian puppetshow plays only for children, beginning with the 20th century. The Rumanian repertory, its connections with the sacred, the satire, the censorship are considered here from antiquity to the post-totalitarism period. Adriana Decu concludes that, during the communist period, this theatre enjoyed really of freedom.
