This article examines how the totalitarian organizing of the Maoist society intervenes in the private sphere represented in a corpus of 774 letters exchanged in a Chinese family. Conceived as a communist totalitarian structure, this society is supposed to lead to a hyper-organization that totally includes individuals, through an identificatory process linked to isolation and to the destruction of the private sphere. However, this pragmatic study, based on the examination of the communicational relations between the actants, human, material and discursive, shows the complexity of the daily interactions which both order and disorder the hyper-organization in the making.
