Pourquoi les pays de l'OTAN ont-ils décidé de lancer une campagne aérienne contre les forces serbes en mars dernier ? Que recherchait le Pakistan dans sa confrontation avec l'Inde ? Quels buts poursuivent les guérillas de Colombie ? Ce numéro offre des analyses de situations empiriques qui illustrent les limites du modèle du choix rationnel. What happened during those fateful days of October 1962 when the American and Soviet governments got involved in the most dangerous nuclear stalemate of the cold war ? Why did the member states of Nato decide to launch an air campaign against the Serb forces last March ? What was Pakistan looking for in its confrontation with India ? What aims are the Colombian guerrillas pursuing ? The analysts of international relations, the foreign policy advisor or the dissatisfied citizen have all the same interrogation on rational choice on a daily basis. After having tried, in the last issue, to make a critical overview of the debates related to the theory of rational choice, Cultures & Conflitspresents, in this issue, a set of analyses of empirical situations that illustrate the limits of the rational choice model. They are an incentive to recognise the complexity of international relations.
