Bruno Méniel, « Comment la Renaissance percevait-elle le style de Platon ? », Cahiers de recherches médiévales et humanistes, ID : 10.4000/crm.13138
In the Renaissance, the aesthetics of the dialogue form depended on the reception of Platonic dialogue which was taken as the archetype. Whereas Marsilio Ficino defined Plato’s style as poetical, other thinkers who subscribed to different philosophical schools revisited this view and appropriated it, transforming it in the process. This essay, which examines the Neo-Platonic, Aristotelian and Sceptic traditions, describes some of these metamorphoses.
