Thomas Struth’s Pictures from Paradise and Jürgen Nefzger’s Ma Petite Amazonie are photographic representations of plant vitality, as demonstrated through chaotic entanglements, stratified and impenetrable spaces. The purpose will be to scrutinize the imaginary representations of time to which these contexts refer, be it a place of “Paradise” or of the “Amazon”. Similarly, our interest lies in what kind of “original elsewhere” these images express. Furthermore, it will be examined how this conception of nature may be deemed meaningful nowadays.
