Almost two decades after Heiner Müller wrote Verkommenes Ufer Medematerial Landschaft mit Argonauten, Dea Loher takes on Euripides’ Medea. The aim of this article is not to compare the 1999 play with its classical and “post-dramatic” (counter-)models but to highlight the originality of the theatrical writing of Dea Loher, who began her career as a playwright in the mid-1990s in Hanover with the “Autorentheater” (inspired by Khuon’s concept). In keeping with “the restoration of the dramatic drama” (B. Haas), this article questions the relation between the internal and external communication within a space made of dialogues and a multiform “out-of-scene.” The aim is to evaluate the degree of emancipation of the play from the drama (G. Poschmann). The epic treatment of the dialogue and the orality of the language create the theatricality of the texts at the disposal of the director (Andreas Kriegenburg).
