L’articolo si divide in due parti. Nella prima, più breve, viene analizzata l’importanza che Omero aveva assunto nelle scuole di retorica del tardo-antico (e in particolare in quella di Gaza) come modello cui attingere per Progimnasmi e Declamazioni. Tali riprese si configurano come attente analisi del testo originale, frutto del lavoro svolto nelle scuole stesse dai retori con i propri studenti. Nella seconda parte, invece, come esempio di questa attività, è inquadrata la tecnica di rielaborazione del materiale omerico operata da Coricio di Gaza nel Patroclus (op. XXXVIII F. / R.).

The article is divided into two sections. In the shorter first part, the author analyses the importance of Homer in the schools of Rhetoric of late Antiquity (in particular, the School of Gaza) as a model for Progymnasmata and Declamations. Such borrowings come from a close reading of the original text, resulting from the work in the schools themselves by the rhetoricians with their students. In the second section, the author analyses an example of this activity and shows how Choricius of Gaza reworked Homeric material in his Patroclus (op. XXXVIII F. / R.).
