Le olpette in ceramica acroma depurata nei contesti votivi : il caso del santuario di Portonaccio a Veio

L’elevato numero di olpette in ceramica acroma depurata rinvenuto all’interno della Cisterna Santangelo nel santuario di Portonaccio a Veio ha fornito lo spunto per affrontare lo studio di questa produzione sotto vari punti di vista. In questa occasione si approfondirà l’aspetto metrologico, spesso trascurato negli studi archeologici. La testimonianza offerta dalle due olpette con iscrizione L. Tolonio(s) ded(et) Menerva e Paco(nius), rinvenute nel medesimo contesto, ha consentito inoltre non solo di soffermarsi su alcuni aspetti relativi al culto nel santuario di Portonaccio, ma anche di estendere tale indagine ad altri contesti sacri che hanno restituito olpette con iscrizioni di dedica a divinità.

The high number of olpette found inside the Santangelo tank in Portonaccio sanctuary (Veii) has allowed to approach the study of this production from various points of view. On this occasion, we focus upon their metrological aspect, which has often been overlooked in archaeological studies. The testimony offered by the two olpette bearing the inscriptions L. Tolonio(s) ded(et) Menerva and Paco(nius), found in the same context, has allowed not only to dwell on certain aspects of Portonaccio sanctuary’s cults, but also to extend this investigation to other sacred contexts where olpette with dedicatory inscriptions to gods have been found.
