Cet article ethnocritique étudie, dans Histoire de ma vie, l’autobiographie de George Sand, la construction progressive de l’identité artistique afin de comprendre comment les amorces du processus créateur et scriptural préparent l’entrée dans la carrière littéraire et s’affilient à la phase de marge du rite de passage, notamment au modèle initiatique masculin de la « voie des oiseaux » (Fabre, 1986). On suivra dans ce texte, quelques-uns des jalons de l’appropriation de l’écriture en nous interrogeant sur le volet anthropologique de cette initiation scripturaire, à savoir en y repérant les biographèmes culturellement réglés qui, dans la société française du xixe siècle, construisent l’identité sexuée et créatrice dans une productive tension entre des logiques de l’oralité et celles de l’écriture.

This ethnocritical article examines, in Story of my life, George Sand’s autobiography, the progressive construction of artistic identity in order to understand how the beginnings of the creative and scriptural process pave the way for entry into the literary career and can be associated with the margin phase of the rite of passage, notably the masculine initiation model of the « bird path » (Fabre, 1986). In this text, we will follow some of the steps involved in the appropriation of writing by examining the anthropological aspect of this scriptural initiation, namely by identifying the culturally-regulated biographemes which, in nineteenth-century French society, constructed gender and creative identity in a productive tension between the logics of orality and those of writing.
