Cet article prend pour point de départ le dialogue initié entre Adorno et Sohn-Rethel à partir de 1936, autour de l’exposé sur la théorie sociologique de la connaissance (Luzerner Exposé). Il met en évidence un enjeu méconnu des recherches sur le débat d’Adorno avec Sohn-Rethel au sujet de la théorie de la connaissance : ces recherches sont formulées dans les termes issus de la controverse du psychologisme et ne peuvent être comprises sans elle. Il montre que l’intérêt d’Adorno se concentre autour de la capacité de la théorie de Sohn-Rethel à poser les jalons d’une troisième voie pour la théorie de la connaissance du social, en articulant d’une manière originale genèse et validité pour penser le rapport entre formes de la connaissance et rapports sociaux.

Ausgangspunkt dieses Beitrags ist der zwischen Adorno und Sohn-Rethel ab 1936 geführte Dialog um die soziologische Theorie der Erkenntnis (Luzerner Exposé). Anhand dieser Auseinandersetzung soll hier eine in Adornos Erkenntnistheorie noch relativ unerforschte Frage beleuchtet werden: die von Adorno und Sohn-Rethel geführte Debatte verwendet Begriffe, welche der Kontroverse um den Psychologismus entstammen und deren Tragweite daher nicht ohne letzteren verstanden werden kann. Hier soll deutlich gemacht werden, dass Adornos Interesse für Sohn-Rethels Ansatz der Fähigkeit seiner Theorie gilt, die Grundlagen für einen dritten Weg für die soziologische Theorie der Erkenntnis zu erarbeiten, da er auf originelle Weise Genese und Geltung artikuliert, um die Beziehung zwischen Wissensformen und sozialen Beziehungen zu hinterfragen.

The point of departure for this article is the dialog between Adorno and Sohn-Rethel, initiated in 1936, concerning the latter’s presentation on the sociological theory of knowledge (Luzerner Exposé). It will highlight a neglected aspect of the Adornian debate with Sohn-Rethel regarding the theory of knowledge: these discussions took place against the backdrop of the controversy over psychologism, which is indispensable to have in mind to be able to properly understand them. The article shows that Adorno is especially interested in the fact that Sohn-Rethel’s theory manages to lay the foundations of a third way for the theory of social knowledge: its original articulation of genesis and validity can clarify the relationship between forms of knowledge and social relations.
