In analysing the place of information in two different trading organizations, namely that of the ship owner and the Saint Malo merchants, and Castilian businessmen, it was shown that during a financially affluent period, where markets and conflicts increased, information took on less importance with regard to the success of business. The relationship that these two groups of businessmen had, both with the economy and the surrounding world, was as important as quality and the cost of information linked to economic performance.
