Cette enquête sur le De abbatibus hujus loci rubrica abreviata, une chronique des abbés du Mont Saint-Michel, vise deux objectifs. Le premier (présente contribution) est d’identifier les auteurs et les périodes de rédaction de ce texte. Le second (contribution à venir) est d’étudier la méthode de travail de l’un des plus célèbres chroniqueurs anglo-normands du XIIe siècle : le moine du Bec (1128-1154) et abbé du Mont Saint-Michel (1154-1186) Robert de Torigni. Cette étude permettra en outre d’actualiser la chronologie des abbés du Mont Saint-Michel des Xe-XIIe siècles.

This research into the De abbatibus hujus loci rubrica abreviata, a chronicle of the abbots of Mont Saint-Michel, has two objectives. The first (this paper) is to identify the authors and the writing periods of this text. The second (forthcoming paper) is to study the working method of one of the most famous Anglo-Norman chroniclers of the twelfth century: the monk of Bec (1128-1154) and abbot of Mont Saint-Michel (1154-1186) Robert of Torigni. This study will also update the abbots of Mont Saint-Michel chronology from the 10th to the 12th centuries.

Questo studio del De abbatibus hujus loci rubrica abreviata, una cronaca degli abati del Mont Saint-Michel, si pone due obiettivi. Il primo (il presente articolo) consiste nell’identificare gli autori e le epoche di redazione del testo. Il secondo (articolo a venire) è quello di studiare il metodo di lavoro di uno dei più celebri cronachisti anglo-normanni del XII secolo : il monaco del Bec (1128-1154) e abate del Mont Saint-Michel (1154-1186) Roberto di Torigni. Questa indagine permetterà inoltre di aggiornare la cronologia degli abati del Mont Saint-Michel dal X al XII secolo.
