La compréhension des transformations du rôle et de la place de l’économie sociale et solidaire (ESS) dans les mutations actuelles nécessite un double changement de regard. Il s’agit, d’une part, de combiner une approche de la crise actuelle appréhendée comme une crise conjoncturelle et une approche la considérant comme structurelle et, d’autre part, d’enrichir l’analyse traditionnelle de l’entreprise de l’économie sociale et solidaire (EESS) comme la combinaison d’une association et d’une entreprise par une approche institutionnaliste. Cette dernière, à caractère englobant, permet d’inscrire l’EESS comme une construction sociale, productrice de valeurs, de normes et de règles spécifiques, et donc comme un acteur du mode de régulation socio-économique .

Understanding the changing role and place of the social and solidarity economy in the current crisis requires a double shift in perspective. On one hand, this involves combining an approach that views the current crisis as a change in market conditions and an approach that considers the crisis as structural. On the other hand, this involves using an institutionalist approach to complement the traditional analysis of the social and solidarity economy enterprise as a combination of an association and a firm. This holistic approach allows us to identify the social and solidarity economy enterprise as a social construct that creates specific values, norms and rules and thus as an agent of socio-economic regulation.
