The evolution of the concept of industrial heritage in recent years entails a re-examination of the narratives that traditionally go hand in hand with the development practices of industrial sites. This article aims to highlight the main disciplinary innovations with reference to three specific aspects. Above all, we will try to show the extension of the phenomena studied to new areas. The new thematic studies of TICCIH and the recent conferences on the heritage linked to atomic energy and aerospace are opening up new fields of research which seem to herald a great widening of the disciplinary horizon. A second aspect is that of new conservation practices where the urgency of assigning new functions to a reused industrial heritage implies approaches that must combine protection and transformation. The last aspect is that of the new values in heritage strategies which aim to bring out certain dimensions that often have not found sufficient space in the usual heritage narratives: the colonial question and the environment question.
