Ovaj rad podijeljen je u dva dijela. U prvom dijelu prikazane su osnovne postavke kao i odnos filozofije odgoja i pedagogije, nastojeći otkriti osnovne karakteristike obiju znanosti, ali i u kojoj mjeri jedna drugu nadopunjuju, te što znače jedna drugoj. Kako bi se pružila kvalitetna i prihvatljiva definicija odgoja, istraženo je kako ove znanosti pristupaju navedenom fenomenu, kako ga definiraju i od kojeg ishodišta polaze. Spoznaje o navedenoj problematici aktualizirale su neka bitna pitanja odnosa odgoja i znanosti o njemu. Tu se posebno misli na razliku i shvaćanje odgoja i manipulacije, te kauzalnost odgojnog zbivanja. Pokazalo se da je znanost o odgoju, i to ona koja skrbi o razvitku čovjekove osobnosti, a to znači poštuje njegovu slobodu, ne samo moguća nego i potrebna za uspješan odgoj. U drugom dijelu rada iznesene su osnovne postavke Matičevićevog sustava pedagogije, nastojeći otkriti i pokazati u kojoj mjeri su vrijedne i kvalitetne za daljnja promišljanja o školskom sustavu, jer na nama kao filozofima i obrazovnim djelatnicima leži najveća odgovornost prema čovjeku, ali i radost kreativnog stvaralaštva.

This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first section, the basic tenants and relationship between philosophy and pedagogy are presented, as well as the basic characteristics of both sciences and the extent to which they complement each other and what they mean for each other. In order to offer a well-formed and acceptable definition of upbringing, the approach to the phenomena, its definitions and origins were analysed from the perspective of both sciences. Insights into the said issue were actualized by some important questions of the relationship between up-bringing and the science that deals with it. Specifically, the difference between and understanding of up-bringing and manipulation, and the causality of up-bringing is elaborated on. It was shown that the science of up-bringing that considers the development of a person’s personality, meaning that it respects their freedom, is not only possible, but necessary for a successful up-bringing. In the second part of the work, the basic tenants of Matičević’s pedagogical system are brought forth by which its value and quality for future considerations of the school system are displayed, because it is the responsibility of us philosophers and educationalists to tend for man, but also for the joy of creative creation.
