An extension of the Esther Bick’s method to the observation of a teacher This article presents biographic and bibliographic elements concerning the kleinian psychoanalyst Esther Bick and, in particular, evokes her approach to the methodical observation of infants as presented in the seminal text Notes on Infant Observation in Psycho-Analytic Training (1964). It also presents the conditions of an extension of that method to the observation of a female teacher in a French college (equivalent of junior highschool) that was carried out over one entire academic year. Some elements of the report on what was observed the very first time are offered in order to give and idea of the type of material that was gathered ; some possible outlooks of the research are prefigured.
