Résumé
Our purpose is to elucidate the notions of topic and focus. Indeed, there are three different types of both. Their definitions are not yet clearly delimited, which causes a conceptual confusion and an overgeneralization of their prototypical definition. Thus, our aim here is to highlight the importance of functional and contextual factors with respect to the communicative relevance that must be taken into account in the treatment of information structure. Our examples are taken from Hungarian, a pro-drop and logical subject-prominent language.
