De nombreux romans ou nouvelles ont pour thème la faim et le comportement alimentaire, comme Faim de Knut Hamsun, Moon Palace de Paul Auster, ou « Un artiste de la faim » de Franz Kafka, dessinant ce qu’on pourrait nommer un « art de la faim ». L’auteur livre une lecture de ces trois ouvrages et en dégage des thématiques communes faisant écho à une histoire clinique d’anorexie masculine. Quatre histoires où l’on retrouve un comportement alimentaire pathologique associé à une problématique narcissique et identitaire marquée par la difficulté d’accès au père, la recherche d’une enveloppe autarcique, et le recours au négatif, à la privation et au masochisme, éclairant la psychopathologie de l’anorexie chez le garçon.

Many novels and short stories revolve around the theme of hunger and eating behaviour, such as Hunger by Knut Hamsun, Moon Palace by Paul Auster or “A hunger artist” by Franz Kafka, portraying what might be called “hunger art”. The author offers a reading of these three works and identifies the common themes echoing a clinical history of male anorexia. In these four stories aberrant eating behaviour is associated with narcissistic and identity-related difficulties marked by a difficulty of access to the father, the search for an autarchic envelope and recourse to the negative, to deprivation and masochism, highlighting the psychopathology of anorexia in boys.
