The knowledge economy triggers demands in terms of knowledge management within companies and more largely within organizations. The cognitive sciences approach opens new perspectives. Its externalist vision makes knowledge an activity and not a stock of information. From this point of view, the concept of artifacts seems more effective than the concept of management tools. Examples from the field of quality and social dialogue management show how it is possible to create organizational knowledge including using the promising resources of knowledge visualization. It is necessary in this case to abandon concepts of quality tools or social dialogue tools in order to introduce the concepts of the intermediary object and boundary object.
