Jean Macchi, « Le droit impérial selon le livre d'Esther », Transversalités, ID : 10670/1.29e650...
This article addresses the three main actions of lawmaking described in the masoretic text of Esther : the decree deposing Vashti (1,13-22), the decree for the destruction of the Jews (3) and the decree allowing the Jews to defend themselves (8,3-14). All those legislative processes are seen as strange and are presented polemically. This study shows that even if the imperial practices described are supposed to happen during the persian period, in reality, the text allude to the policy of the seleucid kings in Judea.
