What is francophonie? This question responds to the configuration of a subject which embodies multiple discursive reinvestments that reinforce its ambiguous and complex nature as a phenomenon not only linguistic and social but also ideological. In FFL (French as a foreign language) didactics, to tackle the francophone fact seems to have become an obligation without being certain of its history, its meanings, its contours, the reasons and modalities of its “teaching”. This research seeks to understand the why of its obligatory nature in FFL didactics and how it is understood in Colombian pedagogical context. In a first part, the objective is to reconstruct the history and to deconstruct the meanings attributed to the term francophonie in order to give an account of the way in which this notion was "made up", developed and ideologized mainly by institutional entities. In a second part - central part of the study-, the interaction of a semantic/pragmatic and semantic/discursive approach is carried out having for objective to analyze the way the concept of francophonie - and its possible associations with French language, French culture, and France (support terms) - is elaborated in the lexical and discursive productions of a group of future Colombian FFL teachers. Now, assuming that the discursive meaning is built in an interdiscursive space, the socio-discursive imaginaries and discursive registers -revealed in the first analysis- are at the same time confronted with the analysis of a corpus of news articles that reports on surrounding discourses of the public space on the francophonie closely related to the French language in Colombian territory. The configuration of an indeterminate notion is revealed defined by its contradictions that alternate stereotypes, discomfort and instrumentalist attitudes strongly linked to institutionality.
