The editions of ancient authors, as well as grammars and lexica of ancient languages from the 16th-17th century Swedish Kingdom (with her oversea provinces) fall generally under the category of school humanism. With an exception of Johann Scheffer, who represents in Sweden the German humanist tradition (and whose editions are mostly printed in Germany) we see cheap text or bilingual editions with no or rudimentary commentary, in case of grammars or lexica, tendency to abridgments.
