In the field of improving well-being, a new practice is taking shape : prolonged and/or repetitive listening to non-musical sounds from everyday life. Platforms such as Youtube offer a plethora of so-called healing videos that broadcast sounds of rain, fire, but also of hair brushing or paper rubbing. Reading the comments underneath these videos, it appears that these sounds are not felt in the same way by everyone. A sound that annoys one person can also relieves another. Based on this observation, we plan to study the relationship between the perception of everyday sounds and its influence on the body and states of mind of the listener. We will also be interested in sounds as access to emotions in order to study the different types of sensitivities. The method used is in line with semiopragmatics and psychology. Individual semi-directive sound interviews, alternating listening and verbalisations, will be analysed. At the same time, this same sound system will be available on the Internet, which will allow a qualitative approach to be compared with a quantitative one. The potential results of this research would allow a deepening of the knowledge of the constructions of meaning through sound perception, in listening situations. In the long term, this thesis project could make it possible to propose the sound perception of everyday sounds as a mental accompaniment for people experiencing difficulties in accessing and processing their emotions.
