Les petites et moyennes entreprises (PME) africaines sont essentielles au développement économique et social, et pourtant elles rencontrent souvent des difficultés dans l’accès aux financements : trop petites pour les banques, parfois trop grosses pour la microfinance.Cet article revient sur les premières initiatives de soutien à ces PME africaines, et décèle dans les nouvelles technologies un nouvel outil qui permettra de révolutionner leur formalisation et leur financement.

Technology will (finally) change everything for African SMEs’ formalization and financingAfrican small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are essential to economic and social development, yet they often face difficulties to get access to financing : too small for banks, and sometimes too big for microfinance.This paper looks back at the first initiatives to support those African SMEs, and detects in new technologies a new tool that will revolutionize their formalization and financing.
