What we know nowadays of the particular affinity between Protestantism and Judaism in France concerns mainly the Reformed Protestants, and the Lutherians in a lesser way. There are few informations about the Evangelics, for whom the importance of biblical writings and conversion must be insisted upon. Then, these Protestants have established for a long time a particular relationship with Judaism, which consists of a desire to obtain conversions, together with a feeling of admiration for the specificity of the Jewish people, whom they regard as heirs of God’s promises. Evangelical Baptist minister Ruben Saillens (1855-1942) is a good example of this relationship. A convinced supporter of Dreyfus, Minister Saillens bears witness of a likeness for Judaism which many of his coreliginists express, without for all that lessening their will to obtain conversion of Jews to Christianity, as they are of opinion that Judaism will succeed in leading to the Gospel.
