Sophie ANQUETIL et al., « De la force illocutionnaire de l’énoncé comme potentialité de performativité dans l’interaction verbale », Revue Actes Sémiotiques, ID : 10.25965/as.8812
The article proposes a definition of illocutionary force as a bundle of potentialities for not only performing plural speech acts but also for plural performativity in interpersonal and social interactions. The thesis of the modal complexity of illocutionary force and the plural performativity it enables is illustrated through the study of reproach in four linguistic and cultural spaces: metropolitan French, American English, Moroccan Arabic, and Romanian. The framework of this research is that of the semantics of verbal interaction – SIV, a development of a more general theory of linguistic meaning, its discursive and semantic potentialities, the Semantics of Argumentative Possibilities. The data analyzed are drawn from experimental research, focusing on both the declarative knowledge and the linguistic know-how of speakers in the 4 mentioned linguistic spaces.
