Cette contribution examine la présence chinoise dans la région des Balkans occidentaux – pays en voie d’adhésion à l’Union européenne – les motivations, les modes d’entrée et les réalisations des entreprises chinoises qui y sont présentes. L’impact de cette présence est analysé à la fois dans ses aspects économiques – commerce, investissement, construction d’infrastructures – et géostratégiques, en particulier son impact sur l’intégration de ces pays dans l’Union européenne, sur les alternatives qu’elle propose face au processus d’intégration conduit par l’Union européenne.

This contribution examines the Chinese presence in the Western Balkans region – where five countries are in the process of joining the European Union – the motivations, the methods of entry and the achievements of the Chinese companies which are present there. The impact of this presence is analyzed both in its economic aspects – trade, investment, construction of infrastructure – and geostrategic, in particular its impact on the integration of these countries in the European Union, on the alternatives that it proposes in the face of the integration process led by the European Union.
