L’article proposé consiste dans une analyse esthétique et sémiotique du tableau de Michelino présenté pour illustrer l’appel à communications de ce numéro. Il s’agit de fonder sur la sémiotique de l’image la formulation d’un ensemble de concepts de nature à rendre raison du concept d’incommunication, de ce qui fait obstacle à la mise en œuvre de la communication.Cinq aspects du tableau seront analysés, donnant lieu à la formulation de six concepts fondant ce que l’on peut appeler une sémiotique de l’incommunication.1. L’espace de l’incommunication : la fragmentation ;2. L’esthétique de l’incommunication : la représentation de l’absence de communication ;3. L’absence de l’autre et la mise en question de la spécularité ;4. L’écriture comme forme d’incommunication : la représentation de la « Divine Comédie » comme absence de l’autre ;5. La politique de l’incommunication : manifestations du pouvoir et dénégation de l’autre ;6. La sublimation et l’imaginaire politique : Babel et l’expression de l’idéal politique ;7. La sublimation négative : la figuration de l’enfer ;8. L’espace clos : la voûte céleste et la « légende ».

This article provides an aesthetic and semiotic analysis of Domenico di Michelino’s Dante con in mano la Divina Commedia, which appeared in the call for submissions to the present issue of Hermès. The semiotics of the image serves as the basis for the formulation of a set of concepts that show the basis for the concept of intercommunication, that is, of what interferes with establishing communication.Five aspects of the painting are analyzed, which give rise to six concepts that establish what can be called a semiotics of incommunication.1.
