L’anticipation du prédicat dans l’argument externe

Notre objectif est de montrer certaines difficultés inhérentes à la notion de prédicat sémantique dans sa corrélation avec un argument externe. On présente successivement la question des requalifications du rôle « sujet » (ou argument externe), l’opposition prédicativité forte vs prédicativité faible, le conflit entre référence présupposée et fond thématique, puis des éléments d’approfondissement de l’opposition jugement thétique / jugement catégorique.

Our aim is to underline some of the many difficulties that weigh on the notion of the semantic predicate from the point of view of its complementarity to an external argument. We thus deal with the following issues : requalifications and varia-tions of the semantic roles of the external argument, “weak” vs “strong” predicativity, the conflict between presupposed reference and thematic background, and finally some new views about the difference between thetic and categoric judgments will be suggested.
