Ioana Iosa, « The experts facing the influencers and mediatisation on the field of cultural heritage », HALSHS : archive ouverte en Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société - notices sans texte intégral, ID : 10670/1.a179c7...
While historically the Ministry of Culture and Regional Culture Departments (DRAC), academic societies and public foundations used to represent the main heritage craftsmen, the recent social networks development has allowed the birth of a new persona - the heritage influencer - able to promote heritage as any other subject, but whose action is in line with the contemporary neo-liberal trend, valuing competition and innovation above all. An entirely exceptional situation is created, where the concepts of mediatic entertainment (such as games and adventure) infiltrate the heritage narrative and dedicated start-ups are appointed among the indispensable stakeholders of heritage.Using interviews, media discourse analysis and public reports, this contribution aims to cast a revealing light over the amazing rise of heritage influencers and the manner their arrival is perceived by the established craftsmen of heritage action, facing the blurring of the values which used to guide the heritage expertise.
