Age is the first risk factor for Alzheimer's disease, so caregivers of diagnosed patients have to deal with people who are gradually losing their abilities due to old age and illness. Based on the hypothesis that the perception of these two ontological facts can have an effect on their experience, we explore here the discursive construction of dependency in relation to old age and illness as it is deployed in the Accmadial corpus (MSH, IRESP), consisting of semi-directive interviews with caregivers by combining textometric analysis with a semantic approach within the framework of the Semantics of Argumentative Probabilities (Galatanu, 2018) which specifies the discursive dimension of the implemented mechanisms.
