Cet article cherche à comprendre et à conceptualiser le rôle régional et global de l'UE ainsi que son identité internationale. Il s’intéresse aux contributions concrètes de l'Union à la gouvernance globale et aux implications empiriques de la notion de puissance civile. Différents scénarios sont développés concernant l'effet de l'évolution du système mondial sur le rôle extérieur de l'UE.

This article focuses on how to understand and conceptualize the EU’s regional and global role and its international identity. It does so by looking at what the EU actually contributes to global governance and the empirical implications of the notion of civilian power. Different scenarios are developed in regard to the impact of the evolution of the world system on the EU’s external role.
