L’élève rom face à l’école : l’école face à l’élève rom. Quel(s) fossé(s) à combler ? Cas d’étude d’une école primaire en Serbie

One of the priorities of Government of the Republic of Serbia is the social inclusion of the Romani population and the improvement of their socio-economic status through education. However, the reports which deal with the Romani children inclusion in education have alarming data. Alongside with skipping classes and quitting school, these children have poor school performance.The aim of this study is to discover the reasons behind poor school performance of the Romani pupils and the elements hindering successful teaching and learning. With this in mind, we will try to address the difficulties the Romani pupils and their teachers face.Based on the results and the conclusions we have, we suggest a few solutions which could help overcome the issues in question, such as: teacher trainings, especially with regard to interculturalism, acknowledging and getting to know the Romani children and their parents, and establishing the relationship between parents and the school.

À l’heure actuelle, la scolarisation des enfants roms reste une forte priorité pour la Serbie afin d’inclure cette population à la société et d’améliorer son statut socio-économique. Pourtant, tous les rapports traitant de l’éducation de ces enfants avancent des chiffres alarmants. Outre l’absentéisme et le décrochage scolaire, il est constaté que leur taux de réussite est très faible.L’objectif de cette étude est de comprendre les raisons de cette faible réussite et les éléments freinant un enseignement et un apprentissage réussi. Dans cette optique, il convient de se demander sur les difficultés rencontrées par les élèves et leurs enseignants.À partir de nos résultats et conclusions, nous proposons quelques solutions susceptibles de remédier aux obstacles existants : la formation des enseignants au sujet de l’interculturalité, la re-connaissance des parents et des enfants roms au niveau de l’école et le rétablissement des rapports école/parents.

Socijalno uključivanje romske populacije i unapređivanje njenog socio-ekonomskog položaja putem obrazovanja je jedan od prioriteta Republike Srbije. Međutim, izveštaji koji se bave pitanjem obrazovne inkluzije romske dece navode alarmantne podatke. Pored izostajanja i napuštanja škole, konstatovan je slab uspeh ove dece.Cilj ovog istraživanja je da se nađu razlozi slabog uspeha romskih učenika i elementi koji koče uspešno predavanje i učenje. U tom smislu, pokušaćemo da odgovorimo na pitanje poteškoća sa kojim su suočeni romski učenici i njihovi učitelji/nastavnici.Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata i zaključaka, predlažemo nekoliko rešenja putem kojih bi se mogli prevazići postojeći problemi : obuka nastavnika, naročito u oblasti interkulturalizma, priznavanje i poznavanje roditelja i dece romskog porekla i uspostavljanje odnosa škola/roditelji.
