À partir de la critique d’un double « enfermement » disciplinaire et conceptuel de l’objet deuil, ce texte souligne la possibilité de sa ré-appropriation par la sociologie. Il montre en particulier comment le deuil peut être compris en recourant à un cadre d’analyse fondé sur la régulation sociale, qu’elle soit institutionnalisée ou informelle, du point de vue des individus endeuillés.

This paper underlines the possible re-appropriation of the phenomena of mourning (or bereavement) by sociology. The criticism on the subject of mourning being « reserved » both in terms of disciplines and concepts was chosen as a starting point. This article then shows how bereavement can be grasped through an analytical framework that focuses on social control, be it institutionalized or informal, from the viewpoint of mourning subjects (the bereaved).
