Résumé En

Weights and civic life in the Hellenistic and Roman Near East. In the Hellenistic and Roman Near East, most of the metal weights are related to the “ new hellenistic style” of the Eastern Mediterranean. Mainly produced by poleis, from the times of the Seleucid rule, these objects offer important information thanks to their iconography and inscriptions. City weights disappear nearly everywhere during rhe fourth century, with a few exceptions in the early Byzantine period, for exemple in Tyre.
