Aproximación filológica al epitafio en verso de Eugenia (CLE, 1447), ¿un ejemplo para las viudas cristianas de Marsella?

The lid of a late antique sarcophagus has been preserved in Marseille, in the abbey of Saint-Victor, where it could already be seen in the 16th century. This lid is inscribed with a carmen epigraphicum, that consists of an accurate funerary eulogy of Eugenia, a woman who died at the age of 60. Up to this date, the literary aspects of this text have been neglected in view of the many archaeological and historical issues raised by the material object itself. Aiming to fill this gap, this paper offers a philological approach of the poem.

En la abadía de Saint-Victor de Marsella se conserva una tapa de sarcófago de época tardía, cuyas primeras referencias datan del siglo XVI ya en el mencionado cenobio. Sobre ésta se inscribe un elaborado elogio funerario en verso dedicado a una mujer de 60 años llamada Eugenia. En su análisis, la dimensión literaria de este texto ha sido relegada a favor de otras consideraciones, esencialmente de tipo arqueológico y/o histórico. No obstante, el acercamiento desde que desde una perspectiva filológica hacemos en este trabajo aporta un nuevo marco interpretativo para la inscripción.
