The French Institute of Byzantine Studies (IFEB) in Paris has a collection of seventy-two manuscripts, which has never been catalogued as a whole. The collection consists of fifty-seven Greek manuscripts (IFEB 1-56 and 72) and fifteen manuscripts in various other languages. The article traces the history of this collection since its formation in Istanbul in the late 19th and early 20th century. It provides the first complete and detailed inventory of the manuscripts, focusing on the following aspects : identification of texts, copyists and owners, and history of the manuscripts as relics of libraries which exist no more.

L’Institut français d’études byzantines (IFEB) à Paris possède une collection de soixante-douze manuscrits qui n’a jamais fait l’objet d’une description d’ensemble. Elle comprend cinquante-sept manuscrits grecs (IFEB 1-56 et 72) et quinze manuscrits en diverses autres langues. L’article retrace l’histoire de cette collection depuis sa constitution à Istanbul entre la fin du 19e et le début du 20e siècle et fournit le premier inventaire complet et détaillé des manuscrits, en privilégiant les aspects suivants : identification précise des textes, repérage des copistes et des possesseurs, histoire des manuscrits, en particulier comme vestiges de bibliothèques désormais disparues.
