The Management of Negative Transferences and the Problem of Submission in the Psychoanalytic Clinic : A Theoretical and Clinical Current in Ferenczi’s Work

À travers une généalogie du transfert négatif dans la trajectoire clinique de Sándor Ferenczi, nous abordons une dimension du maniement des transferts négatifs au-delà de l'interprétation, que nous considérons comme l’héritière du changement clinique qui a permis à Ferenczi de prendre en compte l'implication de l'analyste dans la clinique psychanalytique. Le concept d’identification à l’agresseur, chez Ferenczi, permet l’articulation au problème de la soumission dans la clinique psychanalytique, point central du maniement du transfert négatif des cas limites montrant la nécessité de l'élasticité de la technique psychanalytique.

Through a genealogy of negative transference in the clinical course of Ferenczi's work, we studied the management of negative transference beyond its interpretation, which we consider a result of the clinical turnover that allowed Ferenczi to consider the analyst’s implication on the clinic. Ferenczi’s concept of identification with the aggressor creates a link to the problem of submission in psychoanalytic clinics, a central key to the handling of negative transference in borderline cases, thus pointing out the necessity of elasticity in the psychoanalytic technique.
