Pour tenter d’expliquer l’ambivalence de la place réservée à Marceau Crespin dans les analyses historiques des politiques sportives gaullistes, la ligne d’analyse défendue dans cette contribution est double. D’une part, il s’agit d’éclairer la spécificité et les incidences de la trajectoire de Crespin sur la constitution de traditions administratives propres à ce ministère. D’autre part, l’objectif est de nourrir la discussion sur les modes d’articulation entre les formes du pouvoir politico-administratif et les cadres institutionnalisés de l’organisation du sport.

Did Marceau Crespin exist ? Insights about an historiographical eclipse in the Gaullist sport policies analysisThe aim of this paper is to shed light on the ambivalence about the role assigned to Marceau Crespin in historical analysis of Gaullist sports policies. The explored line of analysis focuses on a double purpose. On the one hand, this means to account the specificity and the impact of Crespin’s biographical path on the shaping of administrative traditions prevailing in the Ministry of Sport. On the second hand, the ambition would be to contribute to the discussion about the linkage between forms of charismatic authority in his action and bureaucratic formats of state organization in charge of sports as it has developed over the sixties and the seventies in France.
