Résumé
Mangals and mangrove swamps, formerly represented as repulsive, now are an important development stake in the tropical areas. There is a deep ditch between “conservationists” thinking mangals weak and untouchable, and people accepting limited destructions. Some fittings and various activities are actually at the origin of the retreat of mangals : aquaculture, wood cutting, agriculture and urbanization. The creation of coastal protected areas stretching on mangals is one amongst various solutions involving in the conservation of this ecosystem. Beyond politician debates, it would be necessary to be very prudent in analysis of local situations which cannot applied generally at whole the tropical coasts.
