Above the Mesopotamian Desert, the Sinjar Mountains, the last mountain chain of Southern Kurdistan, became a haven for the Armenians during the genocide. The Yezidis, a Kurd ethnic group, gave assistance to the persecuted people in their quest for a safety. In this documented study, Yves Ternon shows the danger resulting from any kind of global judgement. The role of the Sinjar in the Armenian tragedy can be compared to the study of the “mountains-haven” in France for the persecuted Jews.
