Depuis la première observation d’ovnis dans notre ciel en 1947, les théories se proposant d’expliquer ces apparitions défiant la science sont nombreuses. Parmi elles, certaines octroient une part importante au complot. Bien qu’on trouve différentes nuances de complots impliquant plus ou moins de personnes et d’organismes, nous nous attacherons dans cet article à suivre les propos d’un auteur particulier, Jimmy Guieu, en raison de l’aspect totalisant de son approche. Pionnier de l’ufologie, il en a suivi l’évolution jusqu’à sa mort en 2000, et a cherché dans ses multiples ouvrages à former un discours cohérent sur le phénomène ovni. Du Black-out au gouvernement secret incarné par le MJ 12, il a patiemment assemblé les pièces d’un puzzle qu’il ne présente achevé que sous la forme de « romans-vérité ». Bien qu’il reste malgré tout un auteur marginal, des discours semblables à celui de Jimmy Guieu sont présents à la télévision dans des productions à large diffusion, ce qui nous permettra de mettre une évidence une structure narrative récurrente du complot extraterrestre.

Ever since UFOs were first spotted in the sky in 1947, many theories have sought to explain these apparitions that defy science. Some of them lend weight to conspiracy theories. Even though there is a wide spectrum of conspiracies involving a certain amount of people and organizations, the purpose of this article will be to follow one particular author’s point of view, Jimmy Guieu’s, namely because of the global approach that he favors. Guieu, a pioneer of ufology, followed its evolution up until his death in 2000 and tried, through his many works, to offer some enlightening information on UFOs. Ranging from Black-out to the secret government embodied by the MJ-12, he patiently assembled the pieces of a puzzle whose final product takes the form of “romans-vérité”. Although he remains a rather marginal author, some approaches similar to Jimmy Guieu’s can be seen on television in widely distributed productions; this will allow us to put forward the existence of a recurrent narrative structure: the extraterrestrial conspiracy theory.
