Les épingles furent fabriquées en laiton depuis l’âge de bronze jusqu’au 19e siècle. Les procédés de fabrication ont beaucoup évolué ainsi que l’organisation du travail, aux Pays-Bas, en France, en Angleterre. Cette industrie est d’ailleurs celle choisie par Adam Smith pour relier la spécialisation des ouvriers par tâches à leur productivité. Sur ce cas, on peut montrer comment les innovations apparaissent, sont évaluées et sont diffusées.Classification JEL : O33
